We've had a few inches of sleet and snow, followed by a prolonged cold snap. This means that the birds are flocking to our feeders, giving me a chance to practice my photography. I'm using our new Olympus TG-3, held by hand to the lens of my Celestron 102SLT telescope. Thus, the scope is at 26x magnification and the camera was zoomed to about 2x, an effective magnification of over 50.
The bird pictured here is a White-throat Sparrow.

A goldfinch looks surprised as a Tufted Titmouse lands.

Nice Jeff, we would like a Purple Finch or two! but we do have 4 beautiful Fox sparrows and 2 Song Sparrows along with the White-throats, Towhees and Juncos. With the first heavy sleet we also had a Rusty Blackbird....really beautiful things.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Here's my list of bird observations at/near our feeder over the past couple of days: house finches, juncos, mountain chickadee, northern flickers, and a collared dove.
